Tilbury Continue Poor Run
Tilbury 1 Basildon United 2 Att 149
Tilbury's slow start to the season continued with a home defeat to last season's promoted side Basildon United at Chadfields
Joe Keith gave a debut to keeper Harry Aldridge, in place of suspended Ashlee Jones.
Tilbury started brightly on a warm afternoon, before the visitors took the lead on 17 minutes when former Docker Eljay Worrell volleyed home from outside the area in to the net.
Tilbury were back on level terms 8 minutes later when a good move in the Tilbury midfield saw Harry Norman flick the ball through to James Walker who made no mistake.
Both sides made defensive mistakes, but both keepers had little to do in an even first half.
After the break Simon Peddie headed wide from a Carlile free-kick, before the winner came on 54 minutes when Marcus Bowers hit low into the net. Tilbury's best effort fell to Harry Norman who was denied by Connor Wheatley, before Jack Adlington broke through but hit wide.
The result see's Tilbury remain in 19th and the poor start to the season continues.
Tilbury are without a game next Saturday, before welcoming Marlow in the Velocity Cup on 11th September.
