2 out of 2 for Timperley

Both the U14 and the U12 won their end of season finals on Saturday.

The U12 played in the first final of the festival and put on a good performance to beat Cheadle by 13 goals to 9 in the U12 Plate. The game started off in the heaviest of downpours, but this did not deter the Timperley boys from going into a 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Seemingly always in control, this was stretched to 10-2 by the end of the third quarter. The game then exploded in the final quarter, with Cheadle giving Timperley a huge scare by scoring 7 goals. The gap never got closer than 4 though, as Timperley scored 3 of their own to keep ahead and life the plate.

The U14 were up against a strong Sheffield team, who they hadn’t beaten during the regular season. It was going to take a huge effort to play a great game of lacrosse to beat Sheffield, but the boys duly delivered exactly what was required and won the Centurion Cup by taking Sheffield down by 12 goals to 6.

Timperley showed they wanted it more right from the start, and quickly jumped into a 3-0 lead inside 10 minutes, and held a 4-1 lead at quarter time. The second quarter was evenly balanced with 3 goals for either side, leaving Timperley up 7-4 at half time, with neither side seemingly able to make a decisive move in the match. Sheffield got the first goal of the third quarter to close to within 2 goals, before an injury to a Sheffield player threw them off balance. Our midfield unit showed its experience, seized the chance and dominated proceedings for the rest of the game. The U14, calmly and decisively, took the game away from Sheffield running out thoroughly deserved winners.
