The news from Timperley Lacrosse this week

INTRODUCTION
The good news is that TLC came out of the weekend with a 100% winning record. The rather disappointing situation was that only one of the games of the weekend schedule escaped the double whammy of horrific weather and half-term holidays. The wipe out was not restricted to Timperley. There were no Junior Boys Programme played on Saturday morning.

The senior programme saw some games surviving. In the senior Flags Stockport took a nail biting 10-9 win over Brooklands and will face the winner of Timperley’s rearranged tie with Poynton. In the other game Mellor travelled across the Pennines to take a 12-6 win over Sheffield.

For Timperley 1st, A and B their games against Poynton (H), Cheadle A (A) and Stockport B (H) which were postponed last Saturday have been rescheduled for this coming Saturday, 17th Feb.

The one Timperley game to be played saw our very promising Girl’s U13 team take on Norbury on the Timperley ATP on Friday evening. Timperley took an impressive 13-7 win against one of the stronger sides in the age group.

MATCH REPORT
Friday 9th Feb
Girl’s U13 v Norbury (H) Won 13-7

On another cold Manchester evening the U13s put in a strong performance against one of the better teams in the league.

Katie made a fast break from the draw into the Norbury half but despite some very settled play Timperley failed to secure a goal against a tight Norbury defence. Norbury quickly made a fast break into their half which fortunately Timperley recovered.

Katie made another fast break and managed to score the opening goal and within no time Timperley were 2 nil up.

Norbury had one very strong player who scored. Timperley continued to score and then Norbury in second 1/4 managed to claw back some goals.

Rebekah put in a strong performance saving several goals for Timperley.
In the 3rd and 4th quarter Timperley had worked out which Norbury players needed to be marked by more than one player.

In the last quarter Timperley continued a strong dynamic attack demonstrating some settled and composed play with excellent passes.

Strong transitions and fast breaks were made by Zofia, Jess, Katie and Natalya.

Good passing around the fan was made by Elsa, Laura, Grace and Eliza.
A big thank you to Emma Burns for stepping up from the U11’s.

Thanks to Catherine Burns, Paul Kelly and Cengiz Ilhan for your help and support on the side lines.
