MADDYS NEWSLETTER
Once again on behalf of Maddy Box-Poole. I would like to thank the Tividale community for your outstanding achievements since our last update.
Maddy’s Day on Sunday 8th April had to be one of greatest days in the history of the club. It seemed like all of Oakham and most of Tividale was here. Regulars who have been coming here for years commented that they have never seen so many people in the club. It would take another three letters to name all the people we would like to thank for making that day special. So apart from Peppa Pig whose appearance lit up a special little girl’s face, I hope you don’t mind if I don’t, but you all know who you are. On Maddy’s Day alone we raised £2,500
Maddy’s Day also saw the end of the epic “London to Tividale Bike Ride” again it was tremendous to see so many people stopping to welcome the lad’s home. Once again I will not mention the lad’s by name as I am bound to miss someone, but again we salute you and the support team. The sponsorship money is still coming in, but at present over £8000 has been collected. So now as it stands YOUR achievements has raised so far over £10,500 for Maddy. Now that is a phenomenal achievement for such a small community in such a short amount of time.
Now you may well be wondering what we are doing with this money. We here goes. First of all we have purchased a specially modified chair for Maddy. This chair will make getting about a lot easier and in comfort. Not sure of all the spec’s on it, but I have been told that it has disc brakes and all sorts. We can also now announce that Maddy and her parents will be flying to New York, USA on Tuesday 29th May for what is classed as her eligibility trials. These will be a number of tests to see if she is able to have the treatment. So let’s all say a little prayer for her or cross our fingers.
Now there are a few events that will be taking place in the club over the next couple of weeks, including the Zumbafundraiser on Saturday 5th May starting at noon. The Oakham v Tits football match on Sunday 6th May kicks off 3pm; there will also be a bouncy castle for the kids and a disco later for the bigger kids. Then there is Maddy’s Big Thank You Night on Friday 11th May. When all you special fund raiser’s will be presented with your Maddy Thank you letters and priceless yellow wrist bands.
We also intend to do a regular Maddy’s Raffle, where we will be raffling of some great prizes. The first of these (the signed WBA shirt, kindly donated by “The Williams Clan”) will be drawn on Saturday 28th April at Tividale’s final league game against Dunkirk. (a game in which Maddy and her sister Issy will be mascots’s). So look out for more great prizes.
