Child Protection Policy

Introduction

Tonbridge Junior Football Club (TJFC) recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people playing for TJFC. For this reason we have developed our Child Protection Policy which, following guidelines from the Football Association, details the key responsibilities of all parties involved.

Objective

To provide a safe and enjoyable environment for members to play football, free from physical, sexual or emotional harm and neglect or bullying.

Scope

Primarily in the football setting but also when TJFC is informed either directly or through it's own observations or that of a third party that possible abuse is occurring at home or some other setting (outside of football)

Parties

TJFC - Committee
TJFC - Appointed Personnel (Team Managers/Leaders/Coaches/Assistants)
TJFC - Players/Members
TJFC - Players/Members Parents/Carers

Key Responsibilities

Committee

A copy of the policy is issued to each Parent/Carer, for their signed agreement, on joining the club.
A copy of the policy is issued to each appointed personnel member on joining TJFC 3.
To make available, upon request of a Parent/Carer, a copy of the Football Association Child Protection Procedures and Practices Handbook.
To issue to each TJFC appointed personnel a copy of the Football Association Child Protection Procedures and Practices Handbook.
Appoint a Child Protection Officer responsible to the committee.
Provide training and information on all Child Protection procedures and practices to all TJFC appointed personnel.
Ensure all TJFC appointed personnel complete the Football Association Personal Disclosure Form
Ensure all Personal Disclosure information past to them by the Football Association is dealt with in a professional manner i.e. Acted upon appropriately and kept confidential.
Ensure that all external volunteers i.e. Referees are aware of the policy and adhere to its contents.
The policy is reviewed and, if necessary, updated regularly - minimum every 12 months.
TJFC Appointed Personnel

To read and understand the Football Association' Child Protection Procedures and Practices Handbook and ensure all procedures/practices are observed/carried out.
To complete a Football Association Personal Disclosure form on joining TJFC
To ensure, to the best of their ability, that all players whilst under their supervision are free from abuse from any third party.
To take full responsibility for the whereabouts of all players whilst under their supervision.
To advise the appointed Child Protection Officer of any Child Protection issues as set out in the Football Associations Child Protection Procedures & Practices Handbook as they arise
Players/Members

To observe, at all times, the Standard Code of Conduct for members issued on joining the club.
Notify a member of TJFC appointed personnel of any incident where the Standard Code of Conduct is not observed.
Ensure TJFC appointed personnel know of their whereabouts during the period of supervision i.e. Time allocated for each training session/match
Parents/Carers

To read and sign up to TJFC's Child Protection policy and it's procedures on joining the club.
To ensure players are delivered and collected directly and promptly to/from their designated point of supervision
To advise a member of the TJFC appointed personnel of any incidents where a child's protection is adversely affected.
The policy will be adopted, following the agreement of all the committee members on 1st May 2003
