A bumper Christmas crowd of 166, witnessed a cracking game of football, The Millers, despite dominating the game for long periods and creating a hatful of chances, couldn't find the net and went down to a 7th minute strike from the prolific De'ath.
The first half was pretty one sided, apart from De'aths goal, The Millers carving open the Romsey defence time after time but could not make the chances count, Steve Jenkin should have put T&E one up in the 2nd minute but his shot went straight at the keeper, Callum Oliver also went close, blazing over from close range, then a header that went agonisingly wide. Steve Jenkin then put in a great cross which flashed across the goal, but no one was at hand to put it in.
The Millers Midfield, Matt Monk, Matty Hardiman and Terry Cox dominated and passed the ball well and gave Romsey no time on the ball, working it across the park and through the middle with ease, Craig Feeney was a constant threat but didn't get any real chances.
The second half wasn't as flowing as the first, but T&E still kept creating decent chances, though the finishes never really troubled Brown in the Romsey goal. It wasn't all one way traffic though, Romsey catching The Millers on the break a few times and maybe should have done better but the T&E back four, backed up by Saints academy starlet Steve Mowthorpe snubbed out any danger.
In the last 10 minutes of the game The Millers went close four times, Callum Oliver again unlucky though should have done better, putting another close range effort wide, then in the dying seconds he created space for himself inside the box but he kicked the ground first and his shot was easily saved.
unlucky guys, keep the good work up
