Sun 30 Sep 11:00 - League Full time

Match Report: Towcestrians RFC 15 - Bugbrooke RFC 19

Tows 16's just didn't have enough in the tank today.

Tow's u16's lost today to our local rivals Bugbrooke in the first league outing of the season.

In what was a close competitive game throughout Tows went 10-0 up with tries from Isaac and Ollie. Bugbooke hit back with a hard fought try to come in at half time with the score 10-5 to Tows.

Territory in the 2nd half for the first 10 minutes seemed to be more with Tows, our rucking improved but with penalty decisions consistently going against us in what seemed a very messy breakdown area we kept on loosing momentum when we had some decent field position. Bugbrooke with their dangerous center pairing restored to their side from last week took a couple of opportunities in our 22 over the next fifteen minutes to take the lead 10-19.

Digging in, the last 10 minutes were definitely more with Tows. Kit had a try deemed to have been knocked on while grounding the ball in the far right corner. Soon after with good pressure at the scrum Jude took advantage of a loose ball to grab a poachers try to make the score 15-19, with 4 minutes to play.

We came back at it hard and started to work back into the opposition 22 to have one last pop but yet again we were pinged which gave Bugbrooke an opportunity to clear their lines. The ref blowing up soon after.

That's Rugby gents, some you win and some you lose but hats off to the opposition as this was a much closer affair then previous games with Bugbrooke who took the honour's today. Well done and congrats to their lads who fought well.

Thanks to everyone who played today, we know we were hit with a couple of injuries and absences this week but all the lads stuck to it and it was great to get everyone some game time on the pitch and everyone did a lot of things well today.

We just couldn't quite sneak it and win a bit messy at the end or nab enough conversion points to tighten the score :(

Tries: Isaac, Ollie, Jude

MOM: Ollie Freeman - 2nd game on the trot for what was a sterling performance with the ball and in defense and with some real leadership of the line today.

Quilter Kids First Champions winner – November: Hinckley RFC
