Centurions beat High Wycombe and Ampthill
Centurions U15s go into their league gamed unbeaten this season.
The girls traveled to Ampthill with a few players unavailable leaving them with a squad of 15.
In their first game against Wycome a collapsed scrum saw Prop Tilli Allen limping off the field with a turned ankle. Unfortunately this was the end of her afternoon and the girls played with 14 players. Wycombe with a squad of 20 players were soon trailing as Hooker and captain for the match Caitlin Donohue scored her first try of the afternoon. Tows strength and superior off loading soon saw more tries being run in by fly half Lucy Ramskill ( her 12th consecutive game scoring a try or more). Flanker Annabelle Luntz stealing every lose ball was rewarded with a try and conversion. Center Jasmine Pinchin brooke through to Ampthill line to score after some great interplay between the Tows back line.
Bella Taylor scored twice after good work round the base of a ruck and then a darting solo try Full back Sinead Parker converting them both.
Catilin Donhoue rounded off an excellent performance by scoring again. 25 mins played and and the score 48-0 full time was blown early.
Ampthill had also already beaten Wycombe so we knew the second game would be more of a contest.
The 14 Tows girls playing up hill against the 15 of Ampthill.
This was a more evenly fought contest, but Tows excellent ball retention saw them heading towards the try line with super speedy Lucy R making the most of the space out wide to go around the Ampthill defence for our first try.
Then came one of the best moments of the afternoon the ball went through about 5 pairs of hands with new girl Daisy Boyce off loading in the tackle to newer girl Polly on the half way line. Her turn of pace saw her accelerate away from the opposition to score her first ever try.
Continued pressure and brilliant defense in our 22 saw us gradually work our way up the pitch. Nell Bellengers continued tackling and hard running saw a try for our inside center. a final try of the afternoon for Bella with a tally of 3 and another conversion by Annabelle Luntz saw the final score of 22-0.
11 tries and 5 conversions and no point conceded. teams look at this group of players and see a lot of small girls our centers usually the smallest girls on the pitch get a shock when the game starts. An excellent team performance the new girls that started playing this season never looking out of place Kira Ross helping us boss the scrums.
Next week we travel to Fullerians in Watford for our first league game of the season.
If the team keeps its belief and play the way they have been playing hopefully this unbeaten start to the season will continue.
