Back on Track
After the snow and all the rain the pitches all looked in a good condition until you actually walk across wet boggy mud.
Towcester started the game brightly with nice flowing rugby opening up the oppositions defence for Adam Wilkinson
to score the first try on the four minute mark.Cameron Young
attempted the conversion but was unsuccessful falling well short of the posts.
Two injuries early on disrupted the Towcester back line with George Speakman
rolling and ankle and Alessandro Parias
pulling up with a tight hamstring.
The rejig of the back line didn't help with the attack and nothing for the next 20 minutes happened.
Frustration lead to a yellow for Conor Frost
as he entered a ruck from the side so 14 men to the finish of the half.
The final 5 minutes down one man Halesonians started to use their side and Towcester defenced their try line to thwart the oppositions persistent attack.
Too many penalties could have lead to more yellow cards but Towcester were very fortunate to manage to clear their lines.
The final couple of minute of the half belonged to Towcester as multiple off loads ended up with Rob Lees
being on the end of a good couple of phases to score in the corner.
Conversion attempt fell short again and the half ended.
10 Nil at half time didn't reflect the difference in the amount of attacking ball Towcester had in the half.
Half time talk concentrated on more phase play and not trying to score off first phase ball.
This seemed to strike a cord with the team as the half started.
8 minutes into the half Pepi Nanci bust straight through the centre and scored the first of his 3 tries for the afternoon directly under the posts. Easier conversion for Cam Young as he added the extras.
7 minutes later came his second again busting through tackles to score just to the left of the posts and his final try came at the end of multiple phases and ending up wide on the wing for a 29 Nil lead.
The final try cam after some nice off loads from the forwards to finally end up in the hands of returning from over a month out with injury Eugene Baxter
. Marc Yeates
added the final points of the game.
Poor conditions under foot on the day but the result justified with the better side winning.
