A Win Under Lights Against A Strong Olney Side
Slow start but the youngsters shone under the lights.
With the design of the Lewis shield competition some teams can only but teams in when there is a strong enough squad.
This year Olney decide that they may have had a squad that may have a good chance of winning.
From the kick off the visitors showed their intent on running had and straight using the big strike runners from their pack.
For the first 20 minutes the match was played out in the Towcester half and on the 21st minute the visitors struck from a rolling maul.
They converted the extras and went 7 nil up.
Still under pressure Tows had to defend again. Just on the half hour they scored again putting them 14 nil in front.
Then slowly the tide started to turn. Sean Denton
having an outstanding game started to make yards at the breakdown putting Tows on the front foot. The ball was wiped out quickly from the breakdown and the back manage to keep the ball in field for Cameron Young
to score right in the corner. Unable to convert the extras Olney went into the break 5 - 14 up.
As the second half started Tows were still on the front foot. Line out close to the 22 and George Raven
takes down into a maul and Tows drive Olney back to with in 5 metres of the try line.
After waves of attacks Sean Denton
crashed over for Tows second score but just to wide to convert the extra 2 points.
With a few replacements taking to the field Tows didnt release the pressure.
You sometimes have to work hard to score tries but when you have gas to burn it help a lot.
used his pace to go round the outside of the defence for the next try.
Ten minutes later Dave Armstrong scored the final try and wrapped up the game for Tows.
A well fought win against a quality side from Olney.
A big thank you to the lads returning from university to play.
