A soggy mornings rugby saw 18 of MV's U11 squad play in a local Club Festival of Rugby

Teams from Broughton Park, Heaton Moor, Sale & ManchesterFirst up was Sale, although we were not supposed to keep the scores, of course everyone does!

Unaffected by the conditions, Trafford produced some outstanding Rugby and finished the game convincing winners with brilliant team and individual performances. Paddy, Dewi and the "Bear" were all influential. However it was Jackson who stole the limelight with some terrific rucking and his first try of the season. A nice note was little Dan (A) wrestling the ball off the biggest 11 year old in the Sale area, pivoting and scoring a great try. Charlie and Fenton were everywhere.

Second up was Manchester. Dan (C) was outstanding performing all over the park, ably supported with strong running from Beales and Brady, backed up by Zac and JJ winning the team tackle count. Stan not wishing to be left out produced a number of outstanding tackles too. The scrum was influenced by Adam and Brady constantly winning opposition ball. Fast feet was also in evidence with the twinkle toes of James and Toby on display and an excellent catch off Valentine who plucked the ball out of the heavens. Another big win but the coaching team have identified area's to work on as we were consistently guilty of committing to many players to the ruck on occasions.

Heaton Moor was next and we were always chasing the game, Jez 'the Tinkerman' Beales was working overtime - then stepped in Pete 'Jim Telfer' Broadbent with a rousing Braveheart speech. Sparky was all over the pitch and needed to be as we were getting exposed on the wings. Then Paddy from the base of a scrum danced his way over the try line. The 'Bear' took a sublime catch over his shoulder to score and bring the scores level. A cracking game from both teams.

Unfortunately I missed the Broughton match due to being a ref.
A feisty encounter, by all accounts, but managed to come out just on top to end a good mornings work leaving players coaches and parents satisfied.

Thanks to Broughton Park for organising a great event and to all the opposition for providing a great morning of Rugby
