WEEKEND FIXTURES AT TRAFFORD MV

TMV 2nd XV face Preston Grasshoppers 3rd XV at home this weekend - support on the touchline is requested to cheer the lads on.

The MV 1st XV are away to Hutton and Ben Wheelers boys need a much improved performance and effort if they are to get anything out of this tricky fixture.

The 2nd XV will have a tough game on their hands but spirits are high and a good result is overdue for Foggy's hard working team.

Dave Hughes takes his ever improving 3rd XV on the road to Whitchurch following last weekends 38-5 home win against the same opposition in a cup game - the team will be confident but Dave must make sure the hard work gets done first to enable the points to be scored as a benefit.

Good Luck to all sides

Training is on Tues/Thurs evenings at 6.45pm for all players interested in playing 1st/23nd XV Rugby.

Look out for Andy Titterell at the Club who will shortly be starting strength and conditioning sessions - do not miss this opportunity to improve your fitness levels and your ability to play to a higher standard.

The weather got the better of Trafford MV's away fixture at Hutton as a
waterlogged pitch forced a cancellation. The 2nd XV's home fixture against
Preston Grasshoppers 3rd XV was safe however and the players took the field
on a bright but cold winters afternoon. Captain Iain Fogg led the way for
MV as a heavier PGH pack looked to have a definite size advantage, good
movement around the park and a steady flow of possesion gave MV a growing
amount of ball to play their game. John Sadler kicked 2 early penalties to
give MV a platform and big Jamie Kingdon ran in an early try, Sadler
converting, to give MV a 13-0 lead within minutes of the start. The MV pack
worked hard throughout whilst Brian Johnston made hard yards at inside
centre and Chris Eccles ran good lines and communicated well with players
around him from full back. MV ran in several more tries to record a good
win but blotted their copy book by giving away 2 absolute abysmal tries to
    spoil an otherwise great performance.
MV's 3rd XV continued their good run of results despite putting in one of
their poorest performances of the season. Dave Hughes team came home with a
18-26 away win from Whitchurch and will need to put this performance to bed
and get back to their normal standard next week.
February sees top of the League Littleborough visit MV at 1st XV level in
what will be a really tough encounter for MV who will be missing suspended
skipper Ben Wheeler. 2nd's have a long away trip to Carlisle whilst the
3rds have a local derby against Bowdon at home. Kick offs are at 2.15pm.
With the start of the 6 Nations Tournament MV are looking to attract
teenage rugby players in the Trafford borough to get involved in local Club
Rugby. They are looking to Schools, Teachers and Parents to point
youngsters towards the growing popularity of the sport and the opportunity
it gives young sports people. Many of the players in the 6 Nations will be
in their very early 20's and 7 a-side Rugby will feature in this years
London Olympics. Trafford MV is a great place to nurture young talent and
gain the basics of the game before getting on that ladder to the top.
Under 13/14's train on Wed evening and Under 15's and over on Thurs
evenings at 6.30pm - Sunday Morning training for all age groups from Under
    5's upwards is at 10.30am.
