Trafford MV Rugby travel to Workington this coming weekend as their season comes to a finale. MV will be travelling with a strong side and will be looking to bring home a good result against their relegated opponents. The season has proved to be a learning curve for MV who, despite strong competitive performances in the early half of the season, struggled to attain winning results. Losing bonus points proved invaluable as the team just kept their head above water and above the relegation zone. Fortunes changed in recent weeks as MV won 5 out of their last 6 games to climb to 10th place and see Cumbrian sides Workington, Silloth and Upper Eden take the plunge.
MV will have a better idea of what to expect next season and will be looking to increased fitness and strength to begin with but will also be looking to bring their senior colts through into 1st XV rugby and will be looking to recruit new talent where possible.
As the Rugby season draws to a close cricket takes over the outfields at MV's MacPherson Park. MV have been netting well and are confident ahead of their opening fixture. MV are looking to develope their junior section and are keen to hear from any junior cricket coaches who may be interested in adding their skills to the current coaching set up. Young boys and girls aged 7-12 are invited to Thursday evening cricket coaching at M33 6LR from 6.15pm on Thursday evenings - contact Wilf Dooley on 01942 884542 if interested in playing or coaching cricket at a family friendly local sports club

The penultimate weekend of the season, grit teeth, Sunday morning lie ins and trips to home base are within reach. Before you start to get the BBQ out and plan to prune your borders, here come Aldwinians.
The U7-12s face these familiar foes, the last match of the season for the minis, and it's a home game vs one of the best local clubs on the circuit.
Something may have gone awry with the Eccles system as I can't see who is on kitchen duty this weekend, you may need to round up a few beaver wranglers on Sunday morning.
The U15s are training, ahead of their trip to Fylde next weekend for their bowl final.
No game for the colts, but they have a final next weekend too, vs Rossendale at Fleetwood.
For the 14s, the Vase final, at Aldwinians. Warrington's spectacular pool 1 failure means they are the opponents, a tough ask. Kick off is midday, wish them luck.
Around the club, the Cricket season opens on Saturday, whilst the rugby 2nds have their final home game on Saturday too. If you can give them a lift and come watch. The 1s end their season in darkest Cumbria, a messy coach home I reckon.
Hopefully you have passed on your award nominations to Greg, presentation day is on May 7th.
Hopefully see you on the 30th, maybe a bit of silverware? U14s have a last weekend development game vs Wythenshawe.
