You may be aware of some changes which the RFU has recently announced to its award coaching structure. The new Coaching Children Rugby Union (UKCC L1) replaces the former Level 1 course and is principally focused to deliver aspects of coaching sessions to children (up to 12 years old). Sessions in Hertfordshire (at North Herts College in Hitchin) run from 25th March, with further courses running on 13th May and 17th June. Each course comprises two practical days and one evening session.
The only pre-requisite for attending is to have completed a Rugby Ready course.
The second change is the focus for the Level 2 certificate in coaching Rugby Union. Here the course is focussed on the 15 a-side-game and so relevant for coaches of U13’s to colts. The pre-requisite for attending has changed in that participants do not have to have completed Level 1.
You can either:
• Complete Level 1 plus appropriate CPD & coach the 15-a-side game
• Attended Scrum Factory and Rugby Ready courses plus an additional CPD course at youth level and coach the 15-a-side game
There is only one session for Level 2 planned to commence on 9th June and this course comprises three - day sessions.
The development of these coaching certificates ensures the Level 2 is now aimed at junior coaching with the Level 1 aimed at midi and mini coaching.
I have attached all details of both award and non-award coaching courses on the site and also attached details of how to register. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call me on 07876 397639 or e-mail me at Stephen.firstname.lastname@example.org
I look forward to seeing the head coaches at the forthcoming coaches meeting, on March 27th, where I can share more information pertaining to coaching licences
