Fullerians 0 - 3 TringRugby
Mark Firth reports from a very muddy Fullers.
With our head coach stuck in the New York blizzards, we were playing the top of the table team and our scrum half was sick during the warm up. Not the ideal way to prepare for a game!
The pitch at Fullerians looked like a mud bath, we quickly rejigged the back row and ran onto the pitch to start the game. Fullers kicked off and that was the final time they were in our half during the 1st half! The mud stopped any hope of a running game; the lads tried to go through the moves but couldn't make the break through needed.
0-0 at half time and we moved onto a greener pitch that had become available.
Fullers made more ground and were given two attempts at kicking for goal, both missed. It was clearly their plan to “bosh” the ball up field and hope that Tring give away penalties – which we did! Injuries occured to both teams and we progressed into Fullers half and sustained moves and pressure resulted in an infringement by Fullers. A penalty to Tring sees a kick for 3 points. With 10 minutes to go and Fuller’s throwing everything at us, our defence was dogged and strong, a scrum was called in our 22 and we kicked for touch to hear the final whistle.
3-0 and a deserved win for Tring. It was a top performance by all players and the result sets us up for a good run in to the end of the season.
