The Magpies rued missed opportunities against high flying Dunvant at Broadacre.

Tumble were soundly beaten by an in-form Dunvant side which maintained their promotion hopes.
With strong following wind, Tumble exerted early pressure and scored after four minutes when wing Nicky Allinson scored in the corner and Steve Hewitt kicked the difficult conversion. Hewitt and outside half Aled Lewis then exchanged penalties five minutes later and when the Magpies kept infringing, Lewis made them pay with two further penalties both of which were in the visitors twenty two.
Astute tactical kicking from the Magpies kept the home side in their own half but they had to be wary of the counter attack from deep. Unable to complete the final pass was costing the Magpies dear however, when they were awarded a linesout some eight metres out, Hefin Dumbrill won clean ball and was driven close to the line. Flanker Josh George went close but was held up and the Magpies were awarded a set scrum. Dunvant had Arnold yellow carded for the transgression.
Tumble shoved, won the ball, and flanker young Kevin Melly scored wide out for Hewitt to add another excellent conversion on the stroke of half time.
The wing was now strongly in Dunvant’s favour but the Magpies started brightly enough. Runs by Allinson, Hewitt and Mathias created problems but, with the final pass being intercepted by the cover defence, the ball was hoofed sixty metres downfield. Dunvant’s looked sharp with backs and forwards handling and, when Tumble were twice penalised in their own twenty two, Lewis kicked the resultant penalties to tie the scores with fifty five minutes gone.
Centre Daniel Mathias made a break in midfield, reached the opposition fifteen metres out but the final pass was again intercepted and kicked downfield. Dunvant won the lineout and Lewis’ smartly taken drop goal put them in front.
Dunvant rampaged in the last quarter and scored four tries two of which were converted to round of a disappointing day for the Magpies.
