6 NATIONS - 1 CLUB - 1 DAY
DATE: Saturday 18th August 2012
LOCATION: Tupton Hall School
TIME: 8am to 8pm
TARGET DISTANCE: 2144 miles / 3450 km
The 611 challenge is based around the locations of the 6 National Rugby Clubs that compete in the 6 Nations Tournament. The club is aiming to involve as many members of the club and community to take part in completing an accumulative total challenge, where the target is to cover a route between all six stadiums in one day. To achieve this, participants will have the option to walk, run, cycle or row distances which will be added to the total miles covered. The total millage for the challenge is based on a road/ferry route which is outlined in the attached picture (click to enlarge).
How to Take Part
The most important thing to remember about the challenge is that every metre counts. The more people involved in the challenge, however much distance they cover, the easier it will be to achieve are target.
There are several ways to partake in the event. These are as follows:
Walk/Run: There will be designated lanes of the running track for this.
Cycle: There will be three areas within the cycling option:
• There will designated lanes of the running track for shorter distances (own bike req)
• A longer distance course with a start/finish point at the school (own bike req)
• Static Exercise Bikes for people who do not own or have access to their own cycle
Row: There will hopefully be an option to row distances on static rowing machines
Participants are not restricted to any specific one method they use, however the static exercise equipment numbers will be limited and therefore a time rota maybe produced before the event if there is a great interest in their use.
To begin with anyone who wishes to partake in the challenge should register their interest by using one of the following:
Contact: Phil Harrison – 07432616543
Debbie Baggaley – firstname.lastname@example.org
Bob Curry - 07810851158
The event is open to all and if anyone wishes to simply turn up on the event day and contribute this will be acceptable, however registration of interest would be preferred.
To enable the club to obtain an idea of achieving the target millage, we would like to ask registering participants to pledge a minimum distance they would cover on the event day. This does not restrict the participant to only completing their pledged distance but the club will gain a clearer picture of number required. This also allows the participant to state their minimum distance on their sponsor forms to give people an indication of their sponsorship pledge.
Due to the nature of this challenge as a combined club effort, sponsorship can be collected in two areas:
• Sponsorship of the club as a whole in completing the challenge.
• Sponsorship of an individual to complete their pledged distance.
There are several ways to sponsor the club and participants in this challenge:
• Sponsorship forms. A copy of this is provided to participants and is also downloadable from this website and the new website: www.tuptonrufcfundraising.com
• Sponsorship online at: www.tuptonrufcfundraising.com
For any further information please contact one of the persons mentioned above. Updates on the event will be available via the website: www.tuptonrufcfundrasing.com and www.tuptonrufc.com.
Remember: the event is open to all, every distance contributed counts to achieving the target
