A fantastic start to the 150th Anniversary season for Twickenham as they come away with a home win against a strong Old Tonbridgians side.

Although not perfect conditions, Saturday the 9th of September was a monumental day for Twickenham as they get to celebrate the 150th year of playing, and what better way than a win!

The Side;
Forwards; Joey, Ricky & Frazer make up front row, Dowden and Skipper Banks in the engine room, finally Jasper, Chris (Debut) & Puff make up the back row.
Backs; Goddard & Brian team up at half backs, with the centres of Jash & Bucko finally Lurch Stock, Ross & JH Making up the back 3
Replacements; Penson, Mooro & Biff.

I'm sorry to say this is not going to be a detailed report, reason being, i already typed one out today, as i went to publish it, the website deleted all content so thanks.

Ts looked a little rusty from the outset, maybe getting used to the new rules but one too many penalties going against us. Old Ts went ahead 3-0 but Twickenham soon pulled a score out the bag through Puff to make it 7-3. On our cat tails Old Ts brought it to within 1 very soon after making it 7-6.

It stayed like this for a while, both teams looking strong, the structure and defensive efforts from Ts really begun to look solid after 15 minutes of playing, Jasper managed to take his opportunity to quick tap and worm his way through a gap to make it 14-6.

Old Ts gave a valiant effort at coming back at us, but the defence and scrums proved too dominant. Hits coming from the likes of Jash, Ricky, Bucko, Stock & Joey really put the pressure on the oppo. Some strong running and offloads from Frazer, Louie, Dowden & Chris gave great clean ball for Goddard, Brian & JH to move the opposition around and find some lovely gaps. The oppo scramble D really kept them in the game snuffling any Ts opportunity out at the last minute. Before a dominant scrum lead to Chris getting over on his debut and going into half time 19-6 up.

The 2nd half saw Old Ts come all guns blazing, a few poor clearances from Ts gave the oppo a few opportunities to attack and finally they managed to come away with a score making it 19-13. It would stay this score for a while, although both teams would make breaks and look threatening Ts were the next to come away with a score, another dominant scrum allowed Puff to walk all the way over and do it down making it 24-13.

With time still on the clock Old Ts were still in this game, and after a huge amount of phases from Ts the opposition came away with the ball and put their wide men into space and dotted down to close the gap to 4 making it 24-20.

However once more Ts stepped into another gear, Stock, Cowell, JH, Brian & Jash all finding space and getting the ball in the right areas of the field. The dominant scrum a huge feature in this game as it again resulted in one more score, this time the debutant Chris stole it away from Hatrick avoider Puff. This would be the final score to the match.

Thanks to all those involved and the support. Come and support us next wee as Ts take on London Exiles away.

MOTM; was picked by them ... not us... went to Jasper... i know right ......
DOTD; not too much to mention but Brians stupid attempt at a quick tap, when the corner has been signalled and time is off for a yellow card.

Many thanks, was a fantastic social also. Thanks for the read, until next time.
