Twickenham 32 Vs 41 Medway

A very similar story to Medway away, a brilliant game of rugby from both sides showing what they had to offer.

Ts took on Medway in their last home game of this season, and what a game it turned out to be, although a loss Ts left with their heads held high.

The side, forwards;
Fisher, Smithy and Ivesy at front 3 with Puff and Skipper Banks in the engine room with Mooro, Keano and Stevey Mac at back row.
Backs; Sam W and J See setting up at halfbacks, with JH and Jash in the centre field with Bucko, Dom and Clarky at back three.
Replacements; L Haskell, Jasper and M Diller.

T's didnt take the ball from kick off but with 2 quick pens and Sam W already speeding up momentum was the perfect start. The initial 10 was tit for tat between the sides, T's playing a quick expansive game but Medway defending well and running straight back at them. Forwards running & rucking well meant Ts were able to keep hold of ball but Medway were the first to strike.

Scrums seemed to be in Medways favour the majority of the game and used this as a good platform to build their attacks from, after 10 minutes Medway went 7 up. Although from that sparked a quick response, Smithy, Banks, Mooro, Bucko and Jash giving good front foot ball allowed for Ts to work themselves up the field. Clarky was able to close the gap to 7-3.

Medway got some good front foot ball and if it wasn't for great scramble D likes of Dom, Keano, Steve and Clarky it would have been a wider margin. However simple offload from the oppo allowed Medway under the sticks 14-3. In perfect Ts fashion again we came back with a response. Sam W, See keeping this game sped up and Ivesy, Fisher Puff and JH doing a lot of hard graft allowed T's to get up the field once more. Breaks from Bucko, Steve, See and JH kept Ts deep in the red zone before Smithy sneaked over to 14-8.

The final say of the half on the other hand came from Medway, managing to get over once more making it 21-8 at the half.

Medway got off to an emphatic start, T's defence wasnt up to the standards they're used to and Medway racked up 15 unanswered points in the space of 10 minutes 36-8 made the game look down and out.

In style the comeback started, the rugby played in the next 25 minutes was possibly some of the best seen all year. Touchline to Touchline stuff, forwards making passes and getting out the way, and backs not kicking it and playing heads up rugby. Dom S managed to get the ball in a wide position with little space to work with but squeezed his bald head over in the corner 36-13.

Medway capitalised on the penalties against Ts and pinned them back into their own half, but great scramble D and Bucko/Dom almost killing someone lead to a yellow. After the ref had taken 40 minutes to check the grounding and move the player beneath the ball he made an atrocious decision to award the try 41-13 down.

Like we've seen plenty of times this season See made a few spectacular weaving runs through the defence and this time managed to get down for only his 2nd try of the season 41-18.

Then once again Medway attacked but pouncing on their mistakes was See who hit Keano with a wonderfully weighted pass to JH who saw space but had no idea what to do with it, finally finding Diller who got over for his first try of the season. 41-25 with only about 8-10 minutes remaining.

Hask and Jasper making impacts when on, running brilliant lines carving through defences and offloads going to hands, Medway were looking tired and Ts pounced. Side to Side rugby played once again, great go forward and great urgency finally saw Smithy not only pass but it go to hand, and again Keano with a brilliant timed ball to Bucko to get over the line 41-32.

4 minutes left, T's were going for it again, knocking on the door, penalty after penalty, running rucking and everything in between for only on the final play the ball to get loose and the game called there.

A fantastic game to be apart of as well as watch, thanks to all our support, coaching and physio.

Great to see so many boys down the club and celebrated with a superb social after.

MOTM; thank goodness it wernt Nick, See rang rings around the boys all afternoon and deservedly got the award.

DOTD; Hask took a matter of seconds on the pitch to give away free kick and ultimately 7 points. Thanks
