Tyldesley 1st XV are still looking to register their first league win after yet another closer than the score line suggests defeat at home to high flying Glossop.
Not helped by their 4th Front Row combination in as many weeks the Tyldesley pack played well with Damian Twizell, Bill Elliott and Steve Jones working hard all day at the coal face. The game started with Tyldesley putting together 11 phases for the first time this season but ultimately it didn't provide any points.
Glossop's ability to boss the breakdown meant Tyldesley lived somewhat off scraps of possession and it was the same sublime backs move that has seen Martin Wallbank score in ever game so far which paid off again and reduced a lead that Glossop had built up to 14-0 after 20 minutes. Another lapse in concentration right at the death of the 1st half allowed Glossop to go in at half-time 19-5 up.
The second period saw Tyldesley take the game to Glossop and despite shipping a penalty and a further converted try another great break from Ashley Worsfold found Centre Danny Kilshaw in space and he raced in from 40 metres out. With six minutes remaining Glossop made one final push and extended their lead from 29-12 to 34-12 which remained the score at no-side.
It was a case of frustration again for all as Tyldesley just can't get a break at the moment. Coach Phil Johnson was again down but certainly not out saying that it was only now a matter of time before the hypothetical corner is turned!
