Lancs Festival Finale
Sun 6 May 10:30 - Cup Full time Attendance 150

Under 12's away at Lancs Cup Festival

A great day of Rugby from all involved!

Our 12's travelled to Didsbury Old Bedians for the final fixture of the season. It was the final day of the Lancs Waterfall Festival. We had 14 players confirmed but by 09:00 this was down to 12 players and on a day with temperatures hitting 25 degree plus we knew it was going to be a tough day.
Game 1 - West Park - we put in a great performance against a team that usually beats us convincingly. 0-5 down at half time our lads came back out firing and managed to out ruck WP on both sides of the ball. We went 10-5 and what we thought was 2 minutes beyond the allocated 12. WP informed us there was 1 minute left and subsequently WP scored within 2 phases of the restart. Final score 10-10.

Game 2 - Aldwinnians - a very physical game with both teams showing tenacious tackling and defence to keep the score low. I think our speed from the break down caught Aldwinnians off guard and we came away with a 10-5 victory.

Game 3 - Widness - Widness showed there class and quality in what was a game closer than the scores suggest. End of the first half and Widness were 0-5 up. We were still in the game and came out all guns blazing but Widness's defence stood firm and their kicking game found holes in our backfield allowing them to score another 3 further tries. Final score 0-20

Game 4 - Odham - Another fiery game against Oldham. The first half was all Tyldesley and should have been 2 tries up only for us to be called back for an injury as we crossed the try line. Half time 5-0 Tyldesley. Oldham started the second half flying scored instantly after they capitalised on a week ruck from us. Both teams equalled each other out and as time was up Tyldesley had advantage for a high tackle used a driving maul to force their way over for a try in the corner bringing the final whistle. Final score 10-5

Game 5 - Old Bedians - we dropped to 10 players to match Bedians which seemed to go in Bedians favour. We could not find any Rhythm and where down 5-20 at the end of the first half. A few replacements used and we came right back at Bedians scoring 2 unanswered tries. It looked as thought we had equalised as we broke through but as we crossed the line a lunging tackle from the Bedians full back forced us to knock on. Final score 15-20

Game 6 - Burnley - Our best performance of the day came in our final game. Everything seemed to click, our tackling / defence was top notch, support play in attack was faultless and our awareness of the game situations seemed to be spot on. A great team performance four our final game of the day and the season left us with a 25-5 victory over Burnley.

I would like to say thanks to Old Bedians for making the day a class one. Thanks to all the teams and players who took part for making the games very enjoyable and competitive and played in the right spirit.

Thanks to our 12 lads who could have easily given up after last weeks performances but turned up, put in a solid performance and did themselves and the club proud.... Well done lads!!!
