Tynedale 39 Leicester Lions 10

We were expecting a close game but the replacement of Lions' star and a leading league try scorer Devon Constant for injury early in the first half blunted their attack.
While it is usually our backs that excite the crowd, and they did again yesterday, the engine room of the forwards was pounding away very effectively, reliably catching opposition restarts, initiating and joining in the running game with strong carries. There were also a couple of successful catch-and-drives with Louis touching down. The scrums between two of the youngest front rows in our league were pretty even.
For a period of a few minutes towards the end of the game Lions kept enough possession for a burst of energetic attack, but were prevented from turning it into points. They seemed at this stage in the game to have insufficient energy for a sustained attack.
Another fine display by our squad. It's great entertainment to watch adventurous, skillful rugby, especially when it wins games.

Brian Tilley's report in The Rugby Paper:

Dale cut loose in crushing Leicester success
Tynedale returned ton winning ways in a five-try demolition of Leicester Lions at a chilly Corbridge.
After an even opening half hour Tynedale cut loose with some powerful running and slick handling to complete the double over the Midlanders. The Lions had their moments with half-backs Alex Smit and Jon Boden linking well, but the loss of Devon Constant to injury in the first ten minutes blunted their cutting edge.
Tynedale got off the mark with an Ash Smith penalty on seven minutes, but in their first visit to Tynedale 22 on 17 minutes the Lions won a scrum against the head leading to centre Luke Veebel going over for the opening try, converted by Boden. Smith reduced the arrears with his second penalty on 24 minutes before a magnificent driving maul took Tynedale over and scrum-half Dan Taylor claimed the touch-down. Smith added a try of his own moments later to make it 13-7. A Smith interception on halfway sent winger Guy Pike storming in under the posts to stretch the lead to 20-7, but a Boden penalty on the stroke of half time kept the Lions in the hunt.
Tynedale stretched away after the break with tries by centre Tom Bramwell on 51 minutes and Hooker Louis Frankland, both converted by Smith, before Pike grabbed his second at the death.
