With the cross bar of cuckfields goal being hit within the first minute of the match we knew we were in for a good game.
The sun was shining for the Jets first home match, and shine we did.
With both Alfie & Finlay rattling the wood work within the opening moments we knew a goal wouldn't be far away.
Evan opened the scoring with a fine piece of foot work.1-0
Jamie, Toby and Troy were called upon to shut down block and move play back up the field.
The Jets started to link up their movements, the ball was played from the back to the wide to the middle and time and time again sent to the box. Daniel, Toby, Jamie, Alfie, Matt v, Gabby, Evan, Matt d and Lewis all using their heads, calling, passing and receiving which allowed Finlay to smash the ball over the line twice more.
Half time 3-0
Second half started Matt d put the gloves on, Ollie moved up the pitch.
Matt v was awarded a free kick, the goal alluded him, he scored on the rebound. 4-0
Callum pushed the play wide, Ollie used his head, Lewis found Matt v who in turn knocked the ball to Finlay 5-0.
On is first game of the season Lewis didn't stop working & his hard work paid off 6-0.
Jay tracked backed cut through the play sent the ball to Lewis, Evan made an arking run with a clear call for the ball the shot was blocked.
Ollie was on his toes & with the ball at his feet he took track 1 straight to goal 7-0.
A scramble in the box lead to Cuckfield first goal of the game.7-1
Matt v & Finlay wanted to keep spirits up and scored another goal each 9-1.
Defence needed to close the back door, they closed it a little hard Cuckfield were awarded a penalty. Matt d went the right way but couldn't get his hands to the ball. 9-2
Evan found himself in front of goal , the easy shot would have been to use his left but no 3 taps forward with his right foot and a constant charge forward the ball crossed the line 10-2.
With a last flurry of end to end play the ball hit the back of the net for the final time thanks to Finlay.
Final score 11-2.
Man of the match could have gone many many ways, an easy choice it was not! The final decision came down to the player who started to use their voice, took ownership of the ball, their play & the outcome. Congratulations Evan.
