Harlequins Come to Town!
With the start of the Rugby World Cup just two weeks away there was great excitement at Uckfield RFC last week as the Harlequins Rugby Training Camp came to the club.
The 3-day Camp was aimed at boys and girls aged 6 to 14 and concentrated on developing core rugby skills and fitness amongst the fifty-four local children that attended, and was the perfect preparation to the new season.
There were two special highlights of the Camp: firstly, Harlequins and England Saxons prop forward Joe Marler came along to do a Q&A session with the children on Day 2 and then on the final day they had the opportunity to be photographed with the Amlin Challenge Cup, which Harlequins thrillingly won by 19-18 against top French team Stade Francais in May.
Uckfield RFC Youth section's season (ages 5 to 18) gets underway next Sunday 4th September, and anyone interested in joining should come down to Hempstead Fields on a Sunday morning from 10am to 12noon. All new members welcome!
