MSFL DIV 1
UCKFIELD TOWN II 5 ARDINGLY 0
Town continued their impressive league form with a straight forward victory over the Mid Sussex division one strugglers.
Chris Hickman came in to partner Tom Smith in midfield and was instantly exerting his energy on proceedings, driving from the engine room, with Smith’s impeccable passing being the root of most of Town’s first half attacks.
Custodian Gary Trott was almost breached for the first time in 3 games but was happy to see the ball bounce to safety off the stanchion.
But it was full back Mason Knight’s overlapping run down the right wing which set up Town’s opener and his cross was an own goal conversion under pressure from Joe Miller.
A second followed when Hickman crashed home a crisp drive from 15 yards and number three arrived courtesy of Nick Hunnisett’s delicious left flank cross being emphatically nodded home by Miller.
Further decent opportunities were spurned but no goals added to the score line.
The second period was similarly one-way traffic but a host of clear cut chances were wasted before Smith collected Knight’s pass only to be tripped in the box to afford James Goodby the stage to score his sixth of the campaign form the spot, which he duly dispatched with customary nonchalance.
MOM Knight put the seal on an accomplished Town display, trading passes with Hickman before bundling home despite being fouled in the process.
TOWN: TROTT; KNIGHT, BROWN, P.MORRIS, J.GOODBY; WELSH (SWANCOTT), SMITH (A. BARNARD), HICKMAN, HUNNISETT; ARDLEY, MILLER (MICHAELS)
