The Big Match , Uddingtson v Arbroath starts at 12 noon at west of scotland s ground in the west End.

Uddingston have come along way since 1995. We were then sitting at the bottom of the Western Union and were the Whipping Boys in the West. The team since then has grown form strength to strength and over the last decade has been a Top 5 Side in Scotland, having won the Scottish Cup on 3 occasions . Then after waiting for more than 79 years , The CSL Western League Trophy was secured when Captain Clarke scored the winning runs last Saturday.

The Ultimate Prize however awaits. The National Final Against a strong and talented Arbroath side will be played this Saturday at West of Scotland. Arbroath have a star studded team with several former youth internationalists as well as Scotland A and Scotland capped cricketers. They also have one of the most consistent performers with the ball in Benny McGill who will no doubt test the Uddingston top order.

Uddingston will be without Calum Macleod who is on Scotland Duty, so it will be up to the big game players to step up. The like of Sammy Zia , Ricky Bawa and Vasu “the Cobra” Reddy have been known to put in big performances when it matters and a lot will be expected from these three. Amir Gul and Ras have had a great season with the bat and if Uddy are to harbour hopes of being crowned National Champions a big innings will be required from these guys.

Bryan Clarke was in relaxed sounding mood “The pressure is off. We obviously go in as underdogs and Sammy and Derek will ensure we are relaxed for the big game with their usual antics. We have a great record at West, winning two Scottish Cup Finals here. ”

Whatever happens on Saturday Uddy will at least be lifting one trophy at the end of the Game as they will be presented with the CSL ( West) trophy , hopefully it will be two trophies!

It will be a great moment for the team and for all involved with the club who have transformed the club around if we are crowned National Champions. It will of course be extra special for Brian and Ricky who 20 years ago helped Uddy win the Under 15 Scottish And Western Union Chamionships.

Best of Luck Guys !
