Tunnock's Uddingston's first XI side produced their worst performance of the summer this far when they were annihilated by Clydesdale at the BCP last Saturday.

The Dale won the toss and chose to bat on a flat pitch which promised plenty of runs. Uddy's new ball attack of Bawa and Ras managed to get the run rate down and pick up a couple of early wickets, despite the sturdy looking Mr Sher slogging a few biscuits into cow.

However, the Dale recovery led by Haq and captain Zeeshan Bashir was swift and they batted with purpose for a 50 odd partnership before Bashir was dismissed. New batsman Kasim Farid had not got into double figures against Uddy in previous matches, so the Villagers were confident of an easy wicket. They couldn't have been more wrong.

Farid showed the kind of form that had many experts tipping him for the top a few years back, stroking the ball fluently to all parts of the oval. His dismissal sparked a spectacular batting collapse, but much of the damage had been done and Clydesdale reached 249 off their 50 overs.

Uddy got off to a slow start, with the Dale bowlers hitting good line and lengths early. Allan MacLeod and Amir Gul failed to trouble the scorers too much, while Calum was bogged down by some excellent bowling, especially from the enigmatic Mo Afzal.

When Ras perished having a wild slog, the run rate required was up to 8 an over. Once Calum departed, the rest of the batting line up perished in their persuit of quick runs and the game was over when Uddy were dismissed for a disappointing 83.
