The latest vibe from inside the squad from Alex Chatterton

It's been a successful season for both teams, which has led to both teams all but confirmed as automatically promoted to the NCL Premier. With that in mind, I'm sure today's game will be a great spectacle. In such a tough league, both sides have only lost one game each this season, which shows the quality of both sets of players. We return to The Cross, aiming to make it eleven wins on the spin and 18 victories from the 19 games played this season. With that in mind, we realise that aim is not going to be easy as we're in for a tough game against one of the best sides in the competition, and personally, I think our trip to Parkside earlier in the year was the toughest game we've been involved in this season. They are a big team who keep coming at you all afternoon.

Our only loss this season was against Parkside. For me, they were the better side on the day, but it was more disappointing as we don't feel we played to our full potential. We feel that we owe them one and, with three only games to play after this, this huge game today could decide who goes up as champions. They're a quality outfit from 1-17, with a big and powerful pack, but we know if we can complete high and keep the penalty count to a minimum, then there's no reason we can't take the two points on offer. Whatever the result today, I'm sure you'll agree that it's been a really successful season for both clubs who fully deserve to be playing Premier Division footy next year.

After a couple of nail biting wins at Blackbrook and Hull Dockers we really came back to form with two superb wins against Milford and Normanton in the last two outings. The first forty minutes in both clashes were top notch and the the victories were sealed in those opening halves. The sheds were buzzing after the win at Normy, but when news came through of Milford’s defeat at Featherstone, and the realisation that we had clinched promotion, the boys were ecstatic.

Therefore we need the win today to keep us ahead of our closest challengers and to stay on track for our ultimate goal, which is to be promoted as champions. We have just four games left of a gruelling campaign and we will be treating them all as Grand Finals. I hope everyone here today enjoys the action on the field in what promises to be a top game. I’m sure that you won’t be disappointed with what is served up to you today.
