Bradley Holtzhausen thumps 118 Raymond Hamilton hits maiden 100 for Union as reserves run out easy winners by 138 runs

I've felt better
- Raymond Hamilton after he scores maiden 100 for Un

Sunday saw Union Premier Reserves play United Brothers at the fortress, Union posted a handy 300-6 in 50 overs. United Brothers were never in the running being bowled out for a poultry 162 handing Union their biggest win of the season so far and a well-deserved 6 points. I caught up with the two centurions after the game and this is what they had to say.

CU. Well boys that was some game ,300 runs and you both got 100's, how do you feel?
BH. Yeah I’m fine now I was a bit puffed after I came off but I had a shower and replaced the lost fluids and I'm fine now.
RH. Ummm I I I I I’m still a bit out of breath
CU. Brad at 88 for 2 what were you thinking?
BH. I'm not sure really, I wasn't really worried as I was timing the ball so well and I knew we still had guys that could bat so I hadn't hit the panic button or anything, when Razz walked to the middle I knew he was in form after he got 50 odd for the Prems a week or so ago, so I guess I was just hoping he could stick around a bit.
The pair added 74 runs in 14 overs and Holtzhausen was finally out for an excellent 118 off just 87 balls in just over two hours smashing 17 x 4's and 2 x 6's.
CU. Brad where does that rate in your knocks for Union?
BH. I think it’s probably the best knock I’ve played for Union CC I’ve got a ton before but this one means more as it was against a better team.
CU. I assume it was a good track to bat first?
BH. Yes it was excellent , the crease was a bit damp first up but that’s understandable as the groundsman repaired the deck from yesterday’s Prems game , to be fair all the strips this season at Union have been fantastic the groundsman really has done an excellent job , most grounds just brush the dirt away if the track is played on the day before but we have the right man for the job here and he really does put the miles in to make sure we play on a decent surface every time we walk to the middle , he really does deserve more credit .
CU. Razz a maiden 100 at home and captain as well, does it get any better than that?
RH. No I don’t think so it really was a dream come true, and Braddles is right we really have been spoilt this season with our surfaces the groundsman is worth his weight in gold and that’s quite a lot! I’ve had had a couple of 80's and a few 50 odd scores but never a 100 and to get this one today is just brilliant.
Hamilton played with free arms and placed the ball exactly where he wanted it to go, he showed great composure and a good cricketing brain as he dominated the bowling attack with ease. The Union faithful were rewarded for showing faith in the young captain as the innings was easy on the eye and an absolute pleasure to watch
Hamilton’s 105 came off 107 balls in a little over two hours the same as Holtzhausen's and included 14 x 4's and 3x 6's. He and Jono Van Der Nest added 102 for the 5th wicket.
Two great knocks from two very exciting young players and a great win for Union CC
