The annual rugby alumni game was hosted this past week with a strong alumni side taking the honors in the culmination of the DU Rugby season. The win secures the second consecutive victory for the alumni who had a strong side with players spanning the last 15 years.

"It is great to see so many alumni back for the game and means a great deal to the club", shared Stu Halsall, "It is rewarding to listen to their successes, share the camaraderie, and catch up both on and off the field."

The annual team banquet recognized a number of outstanding players throughout the season. Coaches and Alumni presented the following awards:

Most Valuable Back - Brandon Wright
Most Valuable Forward - Dylan Lindamore
Most Valuable Freshman Back - Louie Bogolub
Most Valuable Freshman Forward - Josh Jolly
Most Improved Player - Zach Ziegler
Club Man of the Year - Jack Owens
Wrecking Ball - Alexios Therianos
Heart and Soul - Brent Lockhart
Most Valuable Player - Jake Murphy

Additionally, four players were recognized into the alumni ranks and joined the alumni for the 2nd half of the alumni game and were also recognized at the banquet. These seniors were:

Jake Murphy, Brent Lockhart, Jim Flanagin, and Jason Hornik

"We will miss these guys tremendously for what they have committed to DU Rugby in a variety of ways", shared Head Coach Allan Wilson, "We could not be more proud of these young men both on and off the field and they embody what being a Pioneer rugby player means. We will miss them tremendously."
