DU Rugby will face its toughest test of the season to date when they travel to face the Vatos of New Mexico on Saturday. The games over recent seasons have been close affairs with honors shared between both teams. The Vatos defeated the Pioneers this past year by a score of 27-12.

The Vatos recently defeated Division I side New Mexico and will offer the Pioneers a stern test on the road. "We have a great deal of respect for the New Mexico Highlands rugby program as our games each year have been close," said Head Coach Allan Wilson, "They are an athletic and powerful team with some All-American players that will test our squad. We are excited by the challenge and it will be a great game to see were our squad is."

The Pioneers have worked hard during the week on their overall game plan and have a number of players returning from injury that will assist with the final squad selection.

"We are excited to get a number of key players back into our line-up for this weekend," shared forwards coach Stu Halsall, "The boys are excited for this game and we have had great competition in practice for a number of starting spots. It has been a little bit of time since we've had this amount of competition and it is great for our team as we progress through the season."

With the Champions Cup picture still wide open, this game will provide a great picture of how the playoff picture could shape up. DU Rugby will travel on Friday to New Mexico in preparation for the game on Saturday at 1pm.
