Gators Stomp Bulldogs in Season Finale
The Gators sent their seniors off on a strong note, stomping the visiting Georgia Bulldogs, 76-3, in front of a packed home crowd.
Although UF took a step back in a rebuilding year, they came out focused and determined to beat rival UGA. Thanks to excellent support on offense and a stifling defense, they accomplished that mission.
Everyone got in on the action for the Gators, as nine different players scored at least one try. Seniors Mitch Taulbee and Rob Roux scored a pair of tries, and senior Stephen Sheehan finally got his Zulu off a late pick-and-go inside the 5-meter line.
Other try scorers for the Gators included Jason Lentz, Ryan Gilbert, Laurence Kidd, Danny Gibble and two each by Lucas Baistrocchi and Geronimo Guzman.
As part of senior day, Jared “Team Dad” Rice took over kicking duties for Baistrocchi. The black-bearded second row nailed one penalty kick and four conversions for a total of 11 points.
Congratulations to the UF Rugby Class of 2013 for finishing the season on a positive note and good luck in all your future endeavors.
