A successful night at the University's awards night.

Another momentous feat was achieved at Wednesday night's University of Plymouth Sport Awards. After a year of solid leadership, success on the sports field and a huge presence at weekly socials UPLAX was crowned Club of the Year for 2011/2012 by the University of Plymouth. In beating regular winners, and much more established clubs, Netball, Rugby, Football and Swimming/Waterpolo UPLAX has finally stamped its name in the record books and reaped the rewards of its success.

After a season which saw them go undefeated and finish as league champions (with the play off verdict yet to be decided) UPLAX Men's 1st Team were voted to be the University of Plymouth's Team of the Year! In only their third year in BUCS it is a real accomplishment for the boys to receive this award despite fierce competition from other University teams.

There were also some individual awards for recognition of dedication and commitment with Dave 'Baldy' Baldwin, Josh Rowland, Alex Fitzpatrick and Tom Franklin all awarded Half Colours by the University. Our President Tom Franklin also won the prestigious 'Outstanding Performance' award, pipping the entire Men's Futsal 1st Team in the process. That's right - our President beat a WHOLE TEAM!

2011/2012 is truly shaping out to be an amazing year for UPLAX with every avenue turning out successful. Now that efforts turn to the second leg of the play offs and our Men's 1st Team's hopeful promotion everyone in the club is pulling together to see that this year goes out with a bang.
