Introduction to the club Introduction
The appointment of a Full Time Director of Rugby shows the commitment and desire that the University has to allow rugby to become a major force once again in Rugby in Scotland. Since the appointment the club has risen from BUCS 2A to BUCS 1A and is currently sitting near the top of the Scottish Championship.

The club turns out two teams on a Wednesday in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championships. The 1st XV Squad plays in Premier 1A, The top Scottish League and also participates in the BUCS Cup competition which is a UK Wide Competition and regularly travel around the UK for fixtures.

On a Saturday, the 1st XV play in Caledonia Division 1 as part of the Scottish Club Rugby Leagues. On an annual basis we are consistently near the top of this league however with the fierce competitiveness of this league and the fact that only the top of the league get promoted, we have failed to clinch promotion to National League 3 - This promotion is an aim for the club this coming year.

We also field a Development XV on a Saturday in the Scottish Rugby Union U20s Development League, against other University development sides. This side is predominately made up of Freshers and new players to the club.

The Men's rugby club is one of 4 Focus Clubs within the University which means they receive support from the Department of Sport and Exercise ranging from Fitness testing to Educational seminars relating to improving performance in sport.

Regularly attracting the biggest spectator support of any sport in the University, we take pride in being the premier sports club at Scotland's top university, and ranked as one of the top five best performing Universities in the UK.
