EUCRFC 34 ROMFORD AND GIDEA PARK 24
Harry Barnes thank you for the push
The club went into this match knowing that they should and could of won the away fixture which they narrowly lost by 4 points.
This game took on a few different team selections and players returning from 7's international duties plus one guy playing his last ever rugby match so he says (Luke Brewin) thank you for what you have done for the club in the short time you have served the 1st xv.
Clapton stormed into a 12 points lead only after 10 minutes of play, they managed this by playing fast rugby and moving the ball away from ruck and maul at speed.
Romford had different plans and for the next half hour they played tight stuff it up your jumper rugby which worked for them as they clawed their way back into the match and at half time were winning 12 /17.
The second half took on a similar pattern with Romford still playing tight rugby before shipping the ball out to a man mountain in the 13 shirt who was hard to stop and went over for a 7 pointer making the score 12 24 Club looking well out of the game at this stage.
With just over 20 minutes of play left Clapton scored a scorcher out wide this seemed to liven the guys up and from the restart the forwards burst through the middle of the park and a fine score by club captain Mitch Sinfield was converted by Harry Barnes to take the score to 26 / 24. A penalty was added by Harry Barker 29 /24
Romford rallied and fought hard to get back into the match but they were tiring Clapton sensed this and spread the ball wide at pace wing Rupert Wood cut inside and with a smart little pass found his captain in support who went over for his second score of the day making the final score EUCRFC 34 R&GP 24
