As you are all no doubt aware our much loved Club House is now on its very last legs and is costing us more and more money each year to keep it in a usable state. This situation is only going to get worse and eventually the building will just fall down, which would be a disaster for our Club and would almost certainly, spell the end of UCFC as we know it.

It is therefore our responsibility to ensure that rather than waiting for the inevitable, we take steps to safeguard the future of our Club and we have begun the long process of trying to secure funding for a new Club House to be built at Upland Road.

Many of you will have seen the initial draft plans that have been drawn up which propose that we sell a small strip of land along the front of the property for development and use the money raised along with any Grants we’re able to secure to have a new Club House built overlooking the first team pitch. If you haven’t seen these plans, please go to our website www.upperclapton.com where copies are held and have a look. These plans have been shared both with local residents and Epping Forest District Council Planning Department and have generally received positive feedback, although we have not yet sought official planning permission.

The next stage was to gauge interest from the property market and through Savills our primary sponsor, we were able to invite bids for the land. We generated a lot of interest but none of which was commensurate with the independent valuation we had previously obtained. It was therefore decided that we should consider going ahead for planning approval independently. This does involve some risk as it will mean that we have to fund the application ourselves. We need to raise £10,000 to fund the cost of the fees payable to the Council and our Planning Consultant who will provide the professional help needed to secure the planning consent. The Club cannot fund this from its normal budgets but we are confident that there is lots of support from our members who would like to see the Club continue to grow and provide the much needed facilities for our future.

Help us Build a Better Club, Brick by Brick

We’re aiming to sell 50 bricks to raise £10,000 to fund the planning application to the Council for the new Club House and residential development building plot.
Each person who gives a £200.00 donation towards the Club House development fund will have a brass plaque with their name on a brick on the new Club House fireplace.
