Arrived home last night (with Darren, Dean and Brian) at around 11:30pm after what started off as an evening full of optimism, but ended in deep disappointment. You could see that the staff at Bedworth had worked really hard to get the pitch in a playable state, but it still remained very "boggy" at the start of the game. The whole team battled for the entire 90 minutes, and with 11-12 minutes to go, it looked as though "Muzza's" penalty on 13 minutes was going to be enough. But to their credit, Bedworth also battled incredibly hard and continued to knock at the "Uxbridge door". Finally, with 79 minutes on the clock they scored! To rub salt into the wound, they scored again with the clock showing 87 minutes. So that's it! The "Honeycroft Express" decided Bedworth was going to be it's final destination of the 2011-12 season. After the 1st 8 games (I think), we had 7pts and we sat a rather frustrating 3rd from bottom. But under the guidance of Millsey and The Gaffer, 34 games later, we proudly sat 4th in the table. In short, a massive effort from everyone and a cracking season! There will be many disappointed players, coaches and supporters today and for a few days more I suspect, but when the dust settles we can look back and say, that was one heck of a ride! The "Honeycroft Express" will be fuelled and ready to go full steam ahead next season, hopefully with a few more supporters on it as well!! Congratulations to all the team! Lift your heads up. You can feel very proud of what you achieved this season. This train has now pulled into it's final destination of 2011-12. However, please remain where you are, stay on board and get ready for next seasons exciting ride!
I am a bedworth united supporter and its always sad to lose a play off game after going so well in a season but full credit to uxbridge youve had a great and suprising campaign like us dare i say and good luck for next season...and please can we have your leading goalscorer murray!
Not in a million years Lee. Thanks for your praise though and hope you do well in the final!
not a bad foul all night . both teams a credit to non league football . uxbridge fc even applauded the Beduth fans cause we clapped them off the pitch as well . good luck for next season
Thanks Lee and Rafferty for taking the time to post positive comments. Thoroughly enjoyed the game (although the ending was not what we wanted). 2 good teams battling hard, but as you say, not one nasty foul. As for pinching Muzza, I would never say not in a million years, but hope the weekly petrol costs would keep things in our favour!! Good luck tomorrow. Hope you get a good sized crowd and another good game of football.
much better game than the final good luck next season!
