Uxbridge lost their Middlesex Charity cup tie at Northwood last night by the odd goal in five, as both teams served up a real treat for the spectators
Lots of good flowing football from the respective sides kept the fans enthralled in this end to end spectacle.
Early on Nicke Kabamba brought out a fine save from Mitch Swain and the follow-up by Ryan Fenton hit the post.
Play quickly shifted to the other end, with Spencer BELLOTTI lobbing the ball over John Peacock to give the hosts the lead on seven minutes.
Oliver Hawkins headed a good chance over to put Woods further ahead, before a text book Michael MURRAY free-kick got us level in the 15th minute.
Impressive left-winger Adamson Ajayi crossed for BELLOTTI to side-foot home his second goal on the night.
Our response was pretty immediate as Shaun LUCIEN found the bottom corner of the net confidently on 29 minutes, after picking up Kabamba's pass on the full.
Kabamba went for an acrobatical finish to try and convert Lucien's cross, while equally spectacular was Peacock's save from a James McCluskey free-kick.
However, the Woods scored on 39 minutes once more with McCLUSKEY getting on the end of Craig White's superb ball to slot home past Peacock.
Despite no further goals after the break, the opportunities on goal kept coming.
Swain pulled off two fine saves to thwart Kabamba, as we went in search for an equaliser.
Peacock had more to deal with and he came to the rescue denying Bellotti, twice and Ajayi, as the hosts also wasted one or two other chances to increase their lead.
It was great to see Kevin Warner back in action for us after such a lengthy lay-off through injury, when he played 30 minutes as a sub for Mo Hashi on 61 minutes.
WELCOME BACK KEV!!
