Young Reds put in a fine showing!
Uxbridge fielded a largely reserve squad in last night's Red Insure League Cup defeat at Northwood in front of only 65 spectators at Chestnut Avenue.
However, the performance was very positive from us during most of the game.
The contest was a good one and we caused the Woods various problems and creating a fair few chances for Mitch Swain to deal with in their goal.
Hussein Warsame tested Swain with a powerful free-kick early on, but the hosts scored first on 21 minutes with Ben ALEXANDER finding the corner.
The action went from end to end as both sides made some very menacing attacks.
Jake Girt hit a volley that seemed to have goal written all over it, but Romaine Walker cleared off the line for the hosts.
John Peacock who had made an earlier save from Garry Senior was at it again to turn away Scott Raper's effort.
Young striker Nicke Kabamba who has made a big impact upfront for the reserves since his arrival shot straight at Swain when well placed.
Walker rammed in a drive at Peacock's near post only for him to block brilliantly with his feet.
A dreadful miss by Jonathan Constant ended the half with Northwood 1-0 up.
Swain started the second-half in defiant mood saving from Daniel Fleming and Kabamba's rising shot.
Credit to us though we kept on plugging away and duly equalised in the 65th minute, as WARSAME sent a free-kick into the net beyond Swain.
But we started to run out of steam after a gallant display and the Woods were awarded a free-kick in the 88th minute.
Constant's kick proved too hot for Peacock and SENIOR netted from close-in.
The home team scored a flattering third in stoppage-time, with sub Kurt MORLESE sweeping the ball home from an acute angle.
MoM:Alot of good things came out of this match for us from a whole-hearted and disciplined display from start to finish, which must have impressed Tony on the touchline!
