Old Abbotstonians 22 - Uxbridge 30

A typical local derby had a scrappy start, Uxbridge were guilty of giving away several penalties allowing Old Abbots to take a 9 - 3 lead with two penalties and a drop goal. Fly half Mickey Weymouth responded with a penalty for Uxbridge.

A powerful driving maul from an Uxbridge lineout saw the home side being driven back towards their own line. Abbots managed to stop the drive just short but quick thinking from Scrum half Matt Jackson put winger Jamie Dack in the corner on the blind side for his first score of the afternoon.

Mark Wilson bagged a second try for Uxbridge in the first half, cutting a excellent line through the Abbots defence to score under the posts. Mickey Weymouth converted to leave the score at 9-16.

Two further penalties either side of half time brought the home side back to within a point at 15-16. Abbots retook the lead with a try in the corner and converted it to lead 22-16 mid way through the second half.

Uxbridge raised the intensity of their game and following several forward drives, prop Jamie Flindall was driven over for a score, disallowed after the grounding wasn't spotted by the referee.

Uxbridge continued to push forward and the hard work paid off with two tries for Winger and man of the match Jamie Dack. One of the tries came from an unbelievable chip and chase, faced with three defenders and looking slightly isolated on the wing, Jamie lifted the ball over the Abbots defensive line, raced through, caught the ball without it bouncing and scored in the corner.
