Bridge returned to league action after last time outs cup exploits against Watford looking to keep their league challenge alive.
Conditions were truly awful and Bridge had to play into the wind and up a slope in the first half making forays into the OM’s 22 few and far between. Good breaks from Jack Davey and Sam Dillamore managed to make some in-roads but in the end zone, Bridge found a resolute defence who held up firm despite the battering they took to keep the score at 0.
With over half the half gone and the ball bobbing around, OMs opened their account with a break down the left hand side and despite a spell in which Bridge repelled them for ten minutes, managed to score a second to take a 12-0 half-time lead.
With the wind behind them in the second half Bridge tried to find their way into the game. OM’s changed tack and reduced the amount of kicking and reverted to pick-and-go’s which were making ground.
Another try shortly followed the break and the fourth on the 60 minute mark after a period of possession in which Bridge managed to make some yards through Adriano Martins, Tom Redrup, man-of-match Matt Coker, sub and best economist on the team, Joe Elwig.
As the final whistle beckoned, OM’s were again on the attack and despite being held up front managed work the wall out wide to score their fifth of the afternoon to take the final score to 31-0
Bridge return to cup action next week at home to Actonians in the semi-final (K.O- TBC). All players are asked to make themselves available.
