SQUASH - Welcome to Vale of Lune Squash

Welcome to Vale of Lune Squash SQUASH - Welcome to Vale of Lune Squash
ALMOST 40 years have passed since squash was first played at the Vale of Lune following the opening of the two courts in 1974.
The club benefited from the boom years with membership reaching a peak of almost 300 in the 1980s. Since then numbers have declined but the club fields three teams in the North West Counties League drawn from the current 100 members. Although the club does not currently run an internal league system, the courts are well used and often draw favourable comments from visiting teams.
A number of improvements and updates have been made in recent years, including the installation of a new court heating system and the laying of new floors in each court; further work is being planned.
Renewed impetus has been given to the club with the formation of a fresh committee, led by chairman Chris Halldearn and a number of other willing workers who are determined to bring new life and vigour to Vale squash.
Action has been taken to revive the junior squash section with coaching being made available on Saturday mornings with an England Level 2 coach and contacts are being made with local schools to try to introduce a younger element to the game.
