Vale of Lune girls are now in their 3rd season and the skill level is improving all the time, and new local and not so local talent are joining the ranks to strengthen the sides.
The under 18’s side has been bolstered this season with many players progressing from the under 15’s and our clustering with Preston Grasshoppers. Shelby Grimes has been recalled to the county ranks along with Sadie Giles and Lydia Cowell whom have only just moved up to this age group.
In the opening games of the seasons the Vale hosted Manchester, on a miserable day at Powderhouse Lane the under 18’s had a tight fought contest with the score line being tied at both half time 5-5 and full time 10-10. A fair result for two sides that played with determination and pride, the home side could have easily lost the game towards the end of the contest if captain Shelby Grimes had not made some ferocious try saving tackles.
