Sevens disappointment for Sale Sharks new recruit Matt Rogerson.

Matt, completed his studies this summer at Loughborough University where on the rugby field, his attributes as a versatile forward were quickly recognised. He played with distinction in the fiercely competitive National League One and his efforts had not gone unnoticed by Sale Sharks.

He was a member of the Shark's sevens squad that reached the finals of the Singha Premiership Rugby 7's Finals at Harlequins' ground at The Stoop following their second place in their qualifying group games played at the home of Newcastle Falcons. On their way to final's day they defeated Leicester Tigers 40-5, drew against Worcester warriors 17-17, but lost to the hosts, Newcastle Falcons, 33-12.

After an horrendous eight hour journey to the capital the Sharks barely had time to complete their pre-match preparations before playing the opening game of the tournament, losing to Newport Gwent Dragons, 26-10.

Sale won their first game in the Plate competition, 45-24, against Harlequins but went down in the Final against, Exeter Chiefs, 26-10. Newport Gwent Dragons were the Trophy winners defeating Wasps, 17-14 in a thrilling final to bring the curtain down on an exciting, non stop evening of sevens rugby in London, TW2.
