The attempt is to take place on Saturday 26th May 2012 at the Vale's ground, Powderhouse Lane Lancaster, probably kicking off at 11 a.m.
Involved in the record attempt will be all teams at the club, from under 7's through to 1st XV but also including the possibility of teams of coaches, referees, dads, mums, veterans.
The current record is held by Penryn RFC and was set last July, with 179
participants. The Vale have approx. 300 registered players between the ages of 6 & 18, we are hoping not just to break the record but to smash it!
The record attempt is the icing on the cake really, the main purpose of the day is to bring the entire club together, from the youngest to the oldest and raise as much money as possible to develop the club that has served the local area since 1900.
The day will be an event for the whole family and community, initial
thoughts of activities apart from the record attempt include Cake stall,
Dance Troup, Tombola, Raffle, Stocks, Ice Cream van, Bar B Q, Beer stall, Bouncy castle, Sumo comp, face painting, obstacle course or T.A Assault course. The celebration will continue into the evening with disco, karaoke etc.
We have registered our application with Guinness World Records and await
their response, which we should have by 12th March.
