This is a very important document outlining the future for the governance of the sport we love. There are some very dramatic changes suggested as to the way the game is run and administered and the way it affects clubs.
For example, recommendation 3.3 says that
The Board should undertake a feasibility study and report to Council and to the member clubs, with a view to moving to a system of direct membership for adult individuals, as soon as possible. The most democratic and representative system would be for membership of the RFU to be open to all adult individuals, rather than to clubs.
The effects of that could be far reaching in that the RFU could end up being run for the benefit of individual members who may have no interest in rugby and not for the clubs.
Lancashire RFU have appointed a small working party to examine the recommendations and they have promised that they will be seeking the views of clubs by consulting with them.
The Executive Committee urge every member to read the report and its recommendations. At the very least members should read Chapter 3, Summary of the Recommendations, and look at how they think the recommendations could affect our club.
Any views that you wish to express should be sent by way of email to valesecretary@gmail.com
Below is a link to the report. If you can't access it through that link, go to the RFU home page and put 'Slaughter and May' into the secarch facility.

There is one recommendation that says that tickets to International matches should be sold on the open market and not exclusively through clubs as clubs are presently getting tickets at 'subsidised' prices which are below market prices.
The rumour has it that all tickets in ANY seat between the 22 metre lines should be priced FROM £150 each. If that's where they will start for those seats in the 'nosebleed ' section what will those nearer terra firma cost?
