Vale Ladies travel their longest away journey this weekend up to Workington Finches for a NC2W fixture looking for a second win of the season. Last game out Vale lost to a very strong Southport side 0-59 but again showed glimpses of a performance to build confidence & show they can add more victories this season. Vale put a lot of 2nd half pressure on a Southport team looking for promotion & if the Ladies can play like that for the full 70 mins against Workington there's a good chance a win will boost the journey home.
Team;
Again the Vale Ladies find themselves having to change several members of the team, something that has been a small issue so far this season.
That being said 2 ever presents are in the front row with captain Lucy Fretwell joined by Ellen Gallimore, who moves from no8 to hooker, & returning Ana Diaz-Marlowe. Second row is Kat Huntriss & Laura McKeown with the back row seeing 2 changes. Steph Hockenhull keeps her place at 6, Kelly Kane moves from centre to number 8 & Chelsea Venning returns from injury to play her first game of the season.
In the backs Tanya Peters & Leah Baldock continue their half back partnership which has grown from strength to strength this season & adds some continuity to the Ladies team. In the centres Monica Staniek comes back in to partner ever present Joanne Hathaway. Kate Moran continues her form from full back with Jenn McAlpine playing her first game of the season on the wing with new University recruit Julie making her debut at 14!
After a 17-17 draw in last seasons friendly game between the 2 sides Vale Ladies will be looking to come away with a win, this will also boost some confidence with the game being the first of 3 league games in 3 weeks!
