This is looking like a big kick in the teeth for Valleys supporters. first they get moved from their home in Nelson to a far flung outpost at Caerphilly second they drop out of the Cup at their first attempt and will now miss out for 3 years third they are demoted from the Conference back into the poor quality Welsh region and replaced by some new team who will probabably take Cougars best players away What a debacle and this could end the club as a decent Welsh club and put you back to the beginning again |

Let me explain a few things, The Cougars pulled out of the challenge cup because the opposition would not play on a sunday and cougars couldn't get a team together for the saturday, Secondly The new team which has been formed is NOT Blackwood, the Bulldogs are playing in the welsh conference, The South Wales Hornets are a new team set up as a feeder to the south wales scorpions and will play their home games at Blackwood, the Hornets are giving boys an opportunity to step up and try to see if they make the grade at professional level, it also gives the U18 academy players somewhere to go while they develop their trade, All this was not working as the cougars because players weren't coming from the other conference clubs to play at a higher level as they felt they were being traitors to their mother clubs. I hope this answers all your comments Luke and Neil, this is a positive move in South Wales Rugby League and should be supported. |
