Anything can happen in a cup game

This weekend Harston take his young squad on their travels again in the 1st Round of Sheffield CFA Junior Cup. In what should be on paper an easier game than we could have had against ‘E’ Division side Aston Swallownest, but as Harston points out here to Chief Football Writer Burt McHunt anything can and as happened in the cup.

“All you have to do is look down the road at Oakwell. Not too long ago Barnsley were beating Liverpool at Anfield and Chelsea at Oakwell in the F.A. Cup or more resent just last season as Sutton Utd went on that incredible run in the same cup.” Harston added “So as you can see any game no matter the gap in league places can be a potential banana skin”. “Any team on their day can have the game of their lives and produce that moment of magic. So we will be taking this game like every game we play as a tough, hard one and we will be setup to go out and prove that we have the better side”

Well after twice having to come from behind last weekend despite dominating the game is there likely to be a change in formation or personally to give the team a bit of a shack up? “Well its funny you should say that. I told the lads at the start of the season a few golden rules and that both they and I would be held to them and 1 is going to be used for this weekend, so yes you could say that they could be a change in formation and personally for this game, but I have the upmost confidence that whichever XI I start with will perform for me and this club.” Golden rules do we here at VK News get an exclusive on what these are? “Ye well unfortunately for you Burt that’s between me and the squad. Not only that but we had a chat about the game and agreed that we need to be more clinically in front of goal and start working from midfield with quick attacks in behind our oppositions defence”.

Well as always we here at VK News will be at the game to report back to all the Valley Knights fans on how our lads get on. So let’s hope for a good start to a great cup run. And as always please keep an eye on the website for all the latest information, match previous, report and fixture details.
