Introducing your new Extra A XV skipper

I started school at Lewes grammar when we lived in East Sussex then we moved to Kent in 76 and then went to both Meopham schools. With my family having come from Wales rugby was always the watched and talked about sport in the house, I played briefly for Uckfield mini's as a small child whilst we were living there as dad was quite involved with them at the time. Once we had taken over the farm in Harvel my dad had little spare time so I stopped playing rugby until I was in secondary school where I played in the school team and was coached by Steve Dunn. I was enjoying my rugby so Dad took my to Vigo and I played mini rugby for a while until I was seduced away by beer and women in Meopham YFC, which I now regret, I should never have left Vigo RFC ! The signs that you put at Harvel fete in 2009 got me back to the club and for that I thank you Trevor. I have never been a good player but I enjoy my rugby fully and that counts for so much I think .
My hopes for Vigo 3's is that we can be a side that enjoy playing and have the spirit of rugby and then the wins will come I'm sure. I believe that the mix of youth and senior players is a massive benefit to the side as the youngsters with pace can learn from the oldies, I look forward to welcoming such youngsters as Luke Henderson and Ben Buckland this season. The more players that can make training the better but I do fully understand that everyone has family and work commitments, I will try to make most of the sessions and hope that my team mates can do the same. I do feel that a lot of 3's players are put off but the type of training that goes on, and was hoping that with some help from Ben Paget we may be able to to something just based around set piece practice so we were a slicker side on a Saturday pm. I'm very proud to be picked as skipper and if I can do half as good job as Mark Murphy and Dave Wiltshire did then I'll be happy
